WHEREAS, John Chapman grew up in Uptown with his two sisters and spent his entire career in public service with Allegheny County and the City of Pittsburgh; and,

WHEREAS, John worked twelve years for Allegheny County before coming to the City of Pittsburgh. He spent 8 years as an HR Specialist in the Employee Relations Department and then became the Manager of Special Events, coordinating various events, most notably the summer concert series at Hartwood and South Park and the County Courtyard. Additionally, John was the point of contact with the film industry when filming on county properties; and,
WHEREAS, in April, 2014, Mr. Chapman became the Special Events Coordinator with City of Pittsburgh. For the next 9 years he coordinated the Special Events Permit application process reviewing applications, conducted weekly Special Events Committee meetings, and issuing Special Event Permits for over 850 events annually; and,
WHEREAS, John transferred to Department of Parks & Recreation in March of 2023, where he currently serves as Community Outreach & Program Development Coordinator. In this position, he created the CommUnity Concert Series, bringing live music to various communities and he is currently in the process of attaining International Festivals & Events Association CFEE certification; and,
WHEREAS, John is active in various civic and community affairs. He is a founding member of Uptown Community Action Group and served as recording secretary. He currently serves or was a past member of various organization including Epiphany Church Parish Council, St. Rosalia PTG and Athletic Association, Knights of Columbus, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Knights of Equity, Allegheny County Democratic Committee and City of Pittsburgh Democratic Committee and he is currently a national officer of the American Political Items Collectors; and,
