Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby celebrate the installation of Dr. Darryl T. Canady to the Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church, his many years of commitment to the ministry and his relentless dedication to our communities; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby proclaim Sunday, July 11, 2010, to be designated, “Dr. Darryl T. Canady” day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Dr. Canady received his Bachelor of Arts Degree on Banking and Finance from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA; his Master of Divinity degree from Emory University Candler School of Theology in Atlanta Georgia; and his Doctor of Ministry degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Company in Charlotte, NC. He received and accepted his call to the ministry in 1991; and
WHEREAS, as Pastor Canady began to walk his journey, he was given a vision called "The Block of Hope," which comprised of an organization that addressed counseling, education, economic empowerment, training and service concerns within the community; and
 
WHEREAS, In February 2010, Dr. Canady accepted the call to Pastor Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, PA. He has brought to this church and congregation a level of excitement, energy and experience to his new appointment at "The Street". His innovative prospective serves as a catalyst for revitalization inside the church and outside in our local and global community; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Canady is married to the former Taleeta LaTreena Smith of Los Angeles, CA. They are the proud parents of one son, Major Alexander and one daughter, Essence Cary. His mission in life comes from Luke 12:48 "for whom much is given, much is required".
