Resolution naming the Community Center located at 2406 Saw Mill Run Boulevard as the Fran Accamando Community Center.
Body
Whereas, Fran Accamando has been an advocate and community leader in Overbrook for more than three decades; and
 
Whereas, over those decades, Fran served as the President of the Overbrook Community Council, a member of the South Pittsburgh Redevelopment Team, member of the Overbrook Block Watch, Co-founder and chairperson of the Saw Mill Run Task Force, and many other important positions in her community; and
 
Whereas, in 1985, Fran co-authored an historical retrospective on Overbrook entitled, "Looking Back," and
 
Whereas, Fran's leadership and tireless efforts led to the renovation of Overbrook's old firehouse, and the opening of the Overbrook Center in 1993; and
 
Whereas, such an iconic and respected community leader should be championed as a model for building a better future in any neighborhood in our great City; and so
 
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
 
Section 1.       The Mayor and Director of Public Works are hereby authorized and directed to name the Community Center located at 2406 Saw Mill Run Boulevard "The Fran Accamando Community Center" effective immediately upon the passage of this resolution.
