WHEREAS, the Maronite Lebanese-American community of Our Lady of Victory Maronite Catholic Church, located at 1000 Tropical Avenue, will be hosting its annual Pittsburgh Lebanese Festival from Friday, September 6 through Sunday, September 8; and,

WHEREAS, the Lebanese-American community of Our Lady of Victory Maronite Church has served Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania for more than a century since its founding in 1902; and,
WHEREAS, approximately 3 million Americans descending from Lebanese origin live in the United States making up five generations who migrated from Lebanon beginning in the 19th century; and,
WHEREAS, the festival will be a fun gathering of family and friends with delicious food, live music, and traditional dancing. Volunteers have rolled over 10,000 grape leaves for this year’s festival; and,
WHEREAS, this is a well-known event that draws thousands of people every year fostering a sense of community; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Our Lady of Victory Maronite Church for their service to the community and their faithfulness to their heritage; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare September 6-8, 2024, to be "Lebanese-American Days" in the City of Pittsburgh.
