WHEREAS, the 62nd Annual Amen Corner’s Judicial Reception recognizes Charles E. Evans, Esquire as he is being presented with the prestigious Judge James R. McGregor Award; and,

WHEREAS, Charles received his B.A. in Economics from Geneva College in 1964 and his J.D. in 1967 from Duquesne University School of Law. He was admitted in 1967 to practice in the state courts of Pennsylvania and federal courts; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Evans began his career with the successful practice of Evans Portnoy & Quinn. After 22 years, he is now a partner in the law firm of Lupetin & Unatin, which he joined in September 2005. He is known for his passion for victims of negligence and has developed a prestigious reputation in the legal community as a faithful defender of individual rights; and,
WHEREAS, throughout his career he has served on numerous committees and boards and is currently the President of the American Board of Trial Advocates. For over 25 years, he has served as Solicitor for Turtle Creek Valley Mental Health and Mental Retardation Inc.; and,
WHEREAS, Charles Evans has been named in the prestigious national publication “Best Lawyers in America” over 30 years for his successful handling of personal injury cases. In the community, he has offered his services to the less fortunate by doing pro bono work for organizations such as the Turtle Creek Valley Mental Health Corporation, among others; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Evans has three grown children, two daughters and a son, with his wife of over 40 years. When not working, he enjoys reading, golf, sports, and is active in local politics; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Charles Evans, Esq. on receiving the Judge James R. McGregor Award from Amen Corner; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Thursday, September 5, 2024 to be “Charles Evans, Esq. Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
