Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Brian and Michelle Ralston for their contribution to the sport of fastpitch softball and for their service to the City of Pittsburgh; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Tuesday, July 30, 2024 to be "Brian and Michelle Ralston Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Brian and Michelle Ralston have resided in Westwood for over 20 years and both have served as board members for the Westwood/Oakwood Athletic Association where Brian coached his daughter Karlee's team; and,

WHEREAS, Brian also coached for the Pittsburgh Lady Roadrunner fastpitch softball organization, located in Esplen, for over 15 years. Many of his players went on to play softball collegiately. He continues to provide instructional lessons for the Pittsburgh Lady Roadrunners and other local organizations; and,

WHEREAS, after coaching, Brian became a registered official of the PIAA and has been umpiring for 7 years. He serves on the board of the local chapter of umpires and is the current Director of the National Softball Association of Western PA and West Virginia. Three years ago, Michelle joined the PIAA and officiates local middle and high school games and occasionally Brian and Michelle officiate together; and,

WHEREAS, Michelle is a member of the Women of Westwood group and serves as treasurer for the HHC 1-110 Infantry Family Readiness Group for the US Army of which their daughter Karlee is President. Brian and Michelle assist their daughter in organizing the annual Christmas Dinner supporting over 100 service men and women and their families. Brian is responsible for making sure that Santa arrives safely. Their son-in-law Marc is a Sergeant in the Army National Guard; and,

WHEREAS, Brian and Michelle serve on the Crafton Heights, Westwood, Ridgemont, and West End Community Group and spend much of their free time coordinating and managing local fastpitch softball tournaments and continue to support the local athletic association through sponsorships and volunteering; and,

WHEREAS, Brian has worked for the City of Pittsburgh for 17 years, and is currently the Utility Supervisor for the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure and Michelle has worked for the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh for over 19 years and curre...
