• Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta Board of Directors and ISM-USA on their astounding success in catalyzing the coming together of the city in celebration of one of our greatest regional assets and commemoration of our nation's most important day. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declares Sunday, July 4th, 2010, to “PITTSBURGH THREE RIVERS REGATTA DAY ” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta was introduced to the region thirty three years ago and, held annually since its inaugural run, has since become the largest inland regatta in the nation and the biggest venue on the powerboat racing circuit, bringing powerboat and jet ski races, live music and myriad outdoor activities to thousands of spectators each year at Point State Park and the North Shore; and,

WHEREAS, the Three Rivers Regatta has evolved into a beloved Pittsburgh tradition, moving from August to July to serve as the city's official 4^th of July celebration for national and international visitors alike in the region's biggest free summertime event; and,

WHEREAS, the Three Rivers Regatta , with media partners, Friends of the Regatta and EQT as the Title Sponsor , will feature the EQT "Flashes of Freedom Fireworks Fantasia" , renowned as one of the best pyrotechnic displays in the country; and,

WHEREAS, the 33^nd annual Three Rivers Regatta, held between July 2^nd  and 4th of 2010, features  spectacular water, air, and land entertainment including the skydiving , B.A.S.E Jumping and paragliding skills of the extreme Redbull Air Force Team, the menacing "Rockets on the River" thrills of tunnel boat racing and the Powerboart Superleague North American Championships on July 4^th. In addition, there is music for every age and appetite headlined by country music star, Craig Morgan, the wildly popular "Anything that Floats" Races, the Pittsburgh Dragon Boat Races, the Cast for Bass Fishing Tournament, a Bike Stunt Show, a Frisbee Dog Show, a Tribute Concert to the Beatles and kayak lessons.
