Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes the Green Building Alliance for its efforts to make the Pittsburgh region more sustainable and for helping Pittsburgh become a nationally recognized leader in the green building movement; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares June 10, 2010, “greenSCENE: 'A Celebration of Firsts!' Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on June 10, 2010, the Green Building Alliance (GBA) will host its signature annual event, greenSCENE: "A Celebration of Firsts!;" and
 
WHEREAS, the event will honor eleven buildings in Pittsburgh that have been recognized as the first of their kind in the United States to be LEED certified, including the first LEED certified radio station, food bank, and university dormitory; and
 
WHEREAS, proceeds from the event will support Larimer's efforts to become the first green neighborhood in Pittsburgh; and
 
WEHREAS, GBA promotes green building practices in the design, construction and operation of buildings by providing education, research and technical support to projects; and
 
WHEREAS, GBA also promotes the economic advantages of green buildings and works to remove barriers to green practices in government policies and codes.
