Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, June 4, 2010 as Northside Urban Pathways Charter School day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Northside Urban Pathways Charter School, established in 1988, is a 6-12 grade school located in the heart of the cultural district of the City of Pittsburgh; and,
 
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of CEO Dr. Linda Clautti and Principal Lorraine Clemons, the faculty and staff have set a high standard of academic achievement for the students attending Northside Urban Pathways with a rigorous curriculum aimed at challenging and getting the best out of each student; and,
 
WHEREAS, the mission of the school is to help every child find a pathway to a successful adult life, as exemplified in the school motto, "Futures Built Here", and the vision to ensure that every Northside Urban Pathways student is admitted to college, a goal put forth to students as early as 6th grade and supported by counselors that direct the students through the process of admittance; and,
 
WHEREAS, Northside Urban Pathways' two mentoring programs, BAAM (Benefiting African American Males) and WISE (Women in Sync Everywhere), connect mentors with students at least once a month, with professionals providing guidance and support all the way through each student's first year in college; and,
 
WHEREAS, the 2010 graduating class of Northside Urban Pathways have achieved an impressive 100% college program acceptance rate, fulfilling with flying colors the school's vision;
