WHEREAS, Dr. Vincent E. Rone directs music at Archangel Gabriel Parish in Pittsburgh, which is comprised of Holy Trinity Church in Robinson, St. Mary, Help of Christians Church in McKees Rocks and St. Malachy Church in Coraopolis; and,

WHEREAS, Vincent E. Rone earned a PhD in musicology from UC Santa Barbara in 2014. Since then, he has taught at universities in New Jersey, Virginia, and recently joined the music faculty of Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio where he currently teaches music history, music theory, conducting, and directs the Schola Cantorum Franciscana and the Women's Choir; and,

WHEREAS, the Schola Cantorum Franciscana is comprised of students from the Franciscan University of Steubenville. The choir is the most advanced performing ensemble at Franciscan and currently has 32 members; and,

WHEREAS, the Schola was originally formed as a liturgical choir supplying music for the university's monthly Traditional Latin Mass. Today the Schola currently leads "Lessons and Carols" during each Advent Season, Eucharistic Adoration on campus and various artistic engagements. In addition, the choir, spearheaded by Dr. Rone, performs a Spring Concert series; and,

WHEREAS, Dr Rone began the Women's Choir less than a year ago because of overwhelming interest/auditions among female singers. The choir is comprised of only women singers from the university, and currently have 16 members; and,

WHEREAS, Vincent's compositions for the pipe organ have appeared in international recitals and on Raven Records. Most recently, he has extensive Scholarly publications about music in film and games and the role of nostalgia therein. Vincent lives in Pittsburgh with his wife Susan and two children, Laurelin and Oscar; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Dr. Vincent Rone, the Schola Cantorum Franciscana, and the Women's Choir of the Franciscan University of Steubenville f...
