Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Kevin Pawlos for an outstanding hockey career and commend him for his service to the community and leadership and wish him the best in future years; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, May 25, 2010, to be “Kevin Pawlos Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, in 2006, the Pittsburgh Penguins awarded the Bob Johnson Memorial Scholarship to Bishop Canevin High School senior Kevin Pawlos valued at $2,500 which is given annually to a western Pennsylvania high school senior for academic excellence, community service and for providing leadership, sportsmanship and a positive attitude as a member of their school's hockey program; and,    
 
WHEREAS, his incredible selflessness was evident in June of 2006 when Kevin Pawlos won the Tom Henderson Scholarship, which was named after his high school hockey coach's late father, and he donated the $500  that went with it back to his coach; and,
 
WHEREAS, now a senior at Youngstown State studying business management, Kevin Pawlos has helped the Youngstown State Penguin Hockey team gain national attention when the team fell into the top 25 in the nation during the 2008/2009 season; and,
 
WHEREAS, as defenseman, Kevin Pawlos has been an anchor on the blue line since his freshman year and was assistant captain his senior year; and,
 
WHEREAS, on February 20, 2010, Kevin scored two goals against Adrian College enabling him to join the 100 point club for his career; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Kevin Pawlos for an outstanding hockey career and commend him for his service to the community and leadership and wish him the best in future years; and,
