WHEREAS, the mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law so that they may become responsible, participating citizens ; and,
WHEREAS, the Eagle Scout designation for the Boy Scouts of America is the highest advancement in Scouting and one in which a Boy Scout must fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service and outdoor skills ; and,
WHEREAS, to advance to the Eagle Scout rank, a Boy Scout must pass specific tests that are organized by requirements and merit badges, signifying mastery of skills of personal interest in at least 21 of the 120 available merit badges ; and,
WHEREAS, John Dubensky, Troop 6, Conestoga District, Brookline, having completed all requirements and having been examined by an Eagle Scout Board of Review, has been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to fulfilling the leadership and Merit Badge achievements, for his Eagle Scout project John Dubensky organized and managed a landscaping project, in service of the Church, on the grounds of Saint Pius X in Carrick;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize John Dubensky for his leadership and hard work and congratulates John on earning the Eagle Scout Award through his remarkable and noteworthy project.
