WHEREAS, St. Mary of the Mount Parish began hosting a Spring Luncheon Fashion Show in 1986 to raise funds for capital improvements to the church building; and,

WHEREAS, COVID put a halt to the 35th Annual event which was held in 2023 and in 2021 Saint Mary of the Mount and Prince of Peace Catholic Parishes merged to establish Mary, Queen of Peace Parish; and,
WHEREAS, Sunday, April 21st marks the 36th Spring Luncheon Fashion Show since COVID and the merger. The affair is held at the LeMont Restaurant in Mount Washington where the “Wear Anything that Sparkles” Fashion Show will prove to be a dazzling success; and,
WHEREAS, this year’s Coordinator is Cynthia Brusco-Falvo and the Co-Coordinator for the event is Fara Falvo Garretson. Cynthia has been organizing the Spring Luncheon Fashion Show for 35 years and it has proven to be more than a fundraising event, but a gathering of friends and community changing hearts and minds; and,
WHEREAS, the proceeds from the luncheon will allow for continued capital improvements to the facilities of Mary, Queen of Peace Parish; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the work of Mary, Queen of Peace Parish as they pray for and serve the community of Mount Washington and the City of Pittsburgh; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Sunday, April 21, 2024 to be “Mary, Queen of Peace Parish Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
