Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Director of the Department of City Planning, to enter into an Agreement or Agreements, at no cost to the City of Pittsburgh, between the City of Pittsburgh and Janel Young, for the installation and maintenance of a mural at the Arch Street Basketball Court.

WHEREAS, Janel Young was the winner of the 2023 nationwide contest Every Court Has a Story, which prize is funding the full renovation of the Arch Street basketball court; and
WHEREAS, as part of this renovation, Young has proposed a mural to be implemented on the surface of the basketball court; and
WHEREAS, the installation of the mural is supported by the Department of Public Works and has been given approval by the City of Pittsburgh Public Art & Civic Design Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Public History, Art, & Design division of the Department of City Planning administers the implementation of community-led public art projects on City property; and
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh intends to grant Janel Young license to install and maintain the artwork at this location, with no cost to the City of Pittsburgh and without transfer of ownership to the City of Pittsburgh.
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. Authorizing the Mayor and the Director of the Department of City Planning, to enter into an Agreement or Agreements, at no cost to the City of Pittsburgh, between the City of Pittsburgh and Janel Young, for the installation and maintenance of a mural at the Arch Street Basketball Court.
