WHEREAS, St. Bede Parish has been an important part of the Point Breeze community since its establishment in 1922. he property on which the church sits was originally a private estate dating from the 1870's with the original house is use today as the rectory ; and,
WHEREAS, following the establishment of the Parish, a school was identified as a critical component and in 1926, a two story school was erected, followed by an addition in 1950 and major renovation and the addition of a new activities building in 1999-2000 ; and,
WHEREAS, The St. Bede School community promotes the educational mission of the Catholic Church by teaching the Gospel message, by worshipping together, by serving others and by continuing to grow as a community ; and,
WHEREAS, St. Bede's School provides a comprehensive academic curriculum, a full range of extra-curricular activities and is supported by dedicated adults who are parents, grandparents, senior citizens and community members who strive to provide fundraisers, activities and workshops to make St. Bede a vital community; and,
WHEREAS, St. Bede School is holding an Auction and Dinner, St. Bede's Goes To Hollywood,, on Friday, May 7, 2010, at the Churchill Valley Country Club which will include dinner , D.J., live and silent auction, raffle prizes and Red Carpet attire optional to support the school ; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate St. Bede's School for its many contributions to the community; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, May 7, 2010, to be " ST. BEDE'S SCHOOL DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.
