Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates the Reverend Edward Bryce on the 50th anniversary of his priesthood and commends him for his commitment and dedication to the people and communities he serves; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares May 2, 2010, “Father Edward Bryce Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on May 2, 2010, the Reverend Edward Bryce will celebrate his golden jubilee of priestly ordination with a mass at Saint Bede's parish; and
 
WHEREAS, Father Bryce served as the pastor of Saint Bede's parish from 1989 until early this year and has been serving as administrator of the parish since January; and
 
WHEREAS, Father Bryce studied at St. Charles Seminary, North American College in Rome and Pontifical Gregorian University; and
 
WHEREAS, Father Bryce was ordained on March 25, 1960, by Bishop John J. Wright at St. Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh; and
 
WHEREAS, Father Bryce has held positions at Duquesne University,  St. Joseph Hospital, the motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Francis, the Office for Justice and Peace and the National Conference of Catholic Bishops; and
 
WHEREAS, Father Bryce started a capital campaign that raised over a million dollars to build an activity center and a gym; and
 
WHEREAS, Father Bryce is fluent in Italian and is the leader of the St. Bede's Travel Club which takes an annual trip to Italy.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates the Reverend Edward Bryce on the 50th anniversary of his priesthood and commends him for his commitment and dedication to the people and communities he serves; and  
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares May 2, 2010, "Father Edward Bryce Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
