Title: NOW THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh herby commends and thanks ULYP-Pittsburgh and congratulates the recipients of the Urban Empowerment Awards.

WHEREAS, on May 1, 2010 the 1st Annual Urban Empowerment Awards will be presented at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture by the Urban League Young Professionals of Greater Pittsburgh (ULYP-GP); and
 
WHEREAS, The Urban League Young Professionals of Pittsburgh, an auxiliary of the Urban League of Pittsburgh, is composed of professionals who live, work and serve in the greater Pittsburgh region between the ages of twenty-one (21) and thirty-nine (39). We are professionals who are committed to serving the greater Pittsburgh region through social and civic engagement; and
 
WHEREAS, The Urban League Young Professionals of Greater Pittsburgh's mission is to provide exuberant leadership, highly innovative programming, resourceful services, to promote and facilitate the development of future leaders and to contribute to the strength of the Greater Pittsburgh region; and
 
WHEREAS, ULYP-GP will recognize the unheralded efforts of individuals that make the region thrive and will honor 5 young professionals 21-39 who are committed to service and empowerment in the areas of Education and Youth, Economics, Health and Quality of Life, Civic Engagement and Leadership, and lastly Civil Rights and Racial Justice:
