Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Let Our Voices be Heard for the work they do on behalf of individuals with mental health disabilities; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, April 27, 2010 to be “Let Our Voices be Heard Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Let Our Voices be Heard, a project of Mental Health America Allegheny County, is a group of consumers and advocates who work to make sure that people who use services are at the table when decisions are being made and that democracy is accessible to all; and,
 
WHEREAS, Let Our Voices Be Heard is committed to representing individuals with mental health disabilities, thereby giving voice to their concerns where they otherwise would have no outlet; providing the guidance for them to become involved in public policy; guaranteeing their rights are protected and enforced where they otherwise would have no representation; providing advocacy and support for legislation and issues that are in the good interest of individuals with mental health disabilities; and,
 
WHEREAS, we recognize Let Our Voices be Heard for their work in ensuring that individuals with mental health disabilities are included in the democratic process and for providing a community service that fights for the equity of these individuals; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Let Our Voices be Heard for the work they do on behalf of individuals with mental health disabilities; and,
