Whereas, on Saturday, April 24, 2010, Comcast, in partnership with the National Urban League and its Pittsburgh office, celebrates its ninth annual Comcast Cares Day; and
Whereas, Comcast volunteers will perform cleaning, painting and landscaping activities at the Vintage, Inc. Senior Center in East Liberty; re-seeding, painting and repair of equipment at the South Side Sabers youth football facility on the South Side; and perform landscaping and cleaning at the Northview Heights Family Support Center on Hazlett Street, among other projects; and
Whereas, during the eighth annual Comcast Cares Day in the Three Rivers Region, more than 1,800 Comcast employees and family members volunteered their time in various communities, making improvements at three separate North Side facilities, planting trees at Allegheny Commons Park and rebuilding and landscaping three homes in Westwood, among other projects; and
Whereas, this year almost 2,000 Comcast volunteers will be contributing to local communities throughout Allegheny County; and
Whereas, Comcast is committed to improving the quality of life in local communities where its customers and employees live and work; and
Whereas, Comcast works with existing local organizations to positively impact each community it serves while using its resources to bring visibility to important local issues;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does commend and congratulate Comcast, in partnership with the National Urban League and its Pittsburgh office, on the ninth annual Comcast Cares Day, and does commend Comcast for its concentrated efforts to help with the improvement of our communities; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, April 24, 2010 to be "Comcast Cares Day" in the City of Pittsburgh
