WHEREAS, the inaugural Get Involved! Service Summit will take place on April 22, 2010 at the Union Project; and
WHEREAS, the event is presented by Baker Leadership and seeks to inspire participants to become more civically engaged and make a difference in their communities; and
WHEREAS, Baker Leadership is led by Tom Baker, a motivational speaker, author and the host and producer of a PCTV 21 show; and
WHEREAS, the summit will feature speeches from authors, government officials and non-profit leaders; and
WHEREAS, awards will be given to the following individuals:
· Get Involved! Man of the Year - The Honorable Jim Roddey, former Allegheny County Chief Executive
· Get Involved! Woman of the Year- Diane McMahon, Development Director of Community Human Services
· Get Involved! Male Rising Star Award (18-25 years old) - Joe Madar, University of Pittsburgh
· Get Involved! Female Rising Star Award (18-25 years old) - Josie Badger, PEAL Center/ PA Youth Leadership Network
· Dr. Tom Baker Community Leader Award - Regina Anderson, Coro Center for Civic Leadership/Regional Internship Center
· "The Patty Award"- Patty Verostko Award for Child Advocacy- Lu Randall, Autism Society of Pittsburgh/Spectrum Charter School; and
WHEREAS, the summit will host a small expo of business and non-profit organizations to meet and network with participants.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh thanks the Get Involved! Service Summit for encouraging people to become more active and engaged in their communities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares April 22, 2010, "'Get Involved! Service Summit" in the City of Pittsburgh.
