Title
Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Directors of the Departments of Parks and Recreation and Public Works to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the 14th Ward Baseball Association to set forth the parties' understanding regarding proposed renovations to Mazeroski Field.

Body
WHEREAS, the City owns certain real estate now used as a baseball/softball diamond (and generally known as "Mazeroski Field") located in Schenley Park; and

WHEREAS, the 14th Ward Baseball Association (“Association”) is a member of the Mazeroski Field Working Group (“MFWG”), along with other entities including Carlow University; and

WHEREAS, the MFWG, acting through the Association, is proposing to undertake extensive renovations to Mazeroski Field (the “Project”) to enhance its use for baseball/softball play, contingent upon its receipt of sufficient private funding; and

WHEREAS, at this time, the MFWG wishes to obtain the City's commitment to allow the Project to occur after all private funding is obtained; and

WHEREAS, while the City is willing to make a commitment at this time to allow the Project to occur should all necessary private funding be obtained within a year of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, the MFWG understands and agrees that additional legislation and/or subsequent agreements will ultimately be required: 1) to authorize and approve all planned renovations, which must be made according to applicable law; 2) to document any subsequent non-City maintenance responsibilities; and 3) to permit field use by Carlow University and Association Little League teams as well as the general public.

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

Section 1. The Mayor and the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Director of Public Works are hereby authorized to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the 14th Ward Baseball Association regardi...
