Resolution Authorizing the Director of the Department of Finance to enter into a Landowner/Grantee Agreement with Thar Geothermal Inc. per grant requirements of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Energy and Technology Deployment, Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority for the installation of a geothermal cooling system at the City's Zone 5 Police Station

WHEREAS, Thar Geothermal Inc. ("TGI") has received a grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Energy and Technology Deployment, Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority to install a 20-ton geothermal cooling system (the "System") using non-traditional coolants at a test site for a period of 18 months (the "Project"); and
WHEREAS, the City has agreed to allow TGI to install the System in and around the City's Zone 5 Police Station, located at 1401 Washington Boulevard (the "Project Site") at no cost to the City for this installation; and
WHEREAS, after the Project is completed, the City will have the option to either have the System removed or to keep it and enter into future maintenance agreements with TGI; and
WHEREAS, in order to receive grant monies for the Project, the Commonwealth requires the Grantee and Landowner to enter into a "Landowner/Grantee Agreement" at this time.
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. Authorizing the Director of the Department of Finance to enter into a Landowner/Grantee Agreement with Thar Geothermal Inc. per grant requirements of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Energy and Technology Deployment, Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority for the installation of a geothermal cooling system at the City's Zone 5 Police Station.
