Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby offer sincerest condolences to the family and friends of this devoted citizen, and does hereby remember and honor William Minton.

WHEREAS, William Minton was a man of higher values, evidenced through his commitment as an usher at St. Peter's Church; and
 
WHEREAS serving in the Navy as a Seabee, Mr. Minton helped build two of the largest airstrips in Okinawa; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Minton also served our country in the Korean war, returning home to become a dedicated member of the VFW and the American Legion; and
 
WHEREAS, always smiling, Mr. Minton worked for the City of Pittsburgh for 31 years in the Department of Public Works, as a member of Local #249 Teamsters; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Minton shared his life with Florence, his wife of fifty-seven years; four children; seventeen grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren, acting, in every sense of the word, as a family man; and
 
WHEREAS, this beloved North-Sider devoted his time to serving his community, as an elected constable for twelve years and with the East North Side Senior Center for fifteen years; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Minton was a friend to animals with a special love for Dalmatians, whose kindness and generosity left sound impressions on everyone he met; and
 
WHEREAS, this hard working man who dedicated his life to his country, community, and most of all his family, passed away on February 27, 2010, at the distinguished age of 83, surrounded by his loved ones;
