WHEREAS, Nicky's Grant Street , a breakfast and lunch establishment located in the Grant Building in downtown Pittsburgh, will celebrate 25 years in business in the same location; and,
WHEREAS, Nicky's Grant Street is owned and operated by Nicky Geanopulos and his mother, affectionately known as Mrs. G, and has a loyal and dedicated group of employees , several of whom have been with Nicky's Grant Street for all of its 25 years ; and,
WHEREAS, Nicky's loyal cadre of employees include Margaret Osborne, Donald Pelles, Helen Samber, Marlene Scanlon, Pat O'Brien, Judith Beatty, Ray Carter, Donna Donavich, Shawn Ketter and Elizabeth Mokricky ; and,
WHEREAS, prior to opening Nicky's Grant Street , Nicky owned The Doggery with brothers , Thomas and Andrew and went on to secure the restaurant location in the Grant Building lobby; and,
WHEREAS, twenty five years later, Nicky's Grant Street enjoys a large and supportive clientele of judges, lawyers, secretaries, city and county officials, has seen celebrities, athletes and local , state and national political figures as customers and friends and is one of the most successful lunch establishments in the City of Pittsburgh; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Nicky's Grant Street, Mrs. G and Nicky Geanopulos for successfully reaching twenty five years in business in the same location and serving as a popular meeting place for breakfast and lunch for Pittsburghers in downtown Pittsburgh.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, March 16, 2010, to be " NICKY'S GRANT STREET DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.
