WHEREAS, on March 4, 2010, the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh (AAP) will celebrate its 100th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, over 70 exhibits featuring the work of 350 artists will be shown at locations around the Pittsburgh region as part of AAP's centennial year celebration; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1910, AAP is one of the oldest and largest visual arts organizations in the country; and
WHEREAS, AAP has more than 450 member artists and anyone who lives within a 150 mile radius of Pittsburgh and is over 18 years old is eligible to apply for membership; and
WHEREAS, AAP works to help artists by providing opportunities to display their work and to educate the public about art through forums and outreach programs; and
WHEREAS, since 1910, AAP has hosted an Annual Exhibition in a prominent gallery that is juried by artists, museum directors, scholars and art critics.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh for its work in fostering the fine arts and recognizes the 100 year anniversary of the organization; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares March 4, 2010, "Associated Artists of Pittsburgh Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
