Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Marie A. Scotty on her dedication to her community, her work, and the entire City of Pittsburgh; and it is RESOLVED FURTHER that the Council hereby wishes Marie A. Scotty the best of luck in her retirement.

WHEREAS, Marie A. Scotty has been a Democratic Committeewoman for a very long time, and serves as the vice-chair of the twenty-seventh ward; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Scotty presided as the first Vice President of the Brightwood Civic Group, in addition serving on the board of the Brighton Heights Citizens Federation; and

WHEREAS, in addition to her community involvement, this dedicated Pittsburgher has had a stellar career life as well, beginning as a teenager as a tray girl at St. Francis Hospital, on through studying at Duff's college (summa cum laude) to work at engineering firms, and has been employed at ALCOSAN as in the billing department since February 1, 1992; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Scotty also previously served as a beloved school crossing guard at Oliver High School committed to the safety of Pittsburgh students for about a decade; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Scotty is a proud member of the Daughters of Erin; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Scotty served as a Judge of Elections for many years, and also served on Pennsylvania State Democratic Committee for two terms, in addition to having worked as Chairman of Floyd “Skip” McCrea's School Board campaign and always being willing to participate in worthwhile political activities; and

WHEREAS, having unfortunately lost her husband in 1980, Ms. Scotty is most of all the loving mother of Kim, grandmother of Kevin, Collin, and Sarah, and now great-grandmother of one-year-old Kylie-Shay - always a great and loving family woman; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Scotty has, as of February 28, 2010, retired from her employment at ALCOSAN, to have so much more time to be a grandma and great-grandma and to get involved in civic causes;
