WHEREAS, New Voices Pittsburgh connects women of color with the international movement for Reproductive Justice, educates communities of color about Human Rights and develops new voices for leadership in Pittsburgh;
WHEREAS, New Voices Pittsburgh envisions the complete physical, emotional, spiritual, political, economic, environmental and social well-being of women and girls and elevates the voices experiences of women of color;
WHEREAS, New Voices Pittsburgh is the only Human Rights and social change organization for women of color, led by women of color and about women of color in Pittsburgh and is deeply committed to building a local movement for Reproductive Justice;
WHEREAS, New Voices Pittsburgh will celebrate six years serving women of color primarily ages 12-35 in Pittsburgh through social change activism, civic engagement and leadership development;
WHEREAS, New Voices Pittsburgh has created Women of Color HERStory Month as city-wide partnership to celebrate the power, legacy and achievement of women of color to this region, the nation and the world;
WHEREAS, Women of Color HERStory Month 2010 will include the New Voices Awards, the Women of Color Political Breakfast and the Kinks, Locks and Twists: Environmental & Reproductive Justice Conference;
WHEREAS, the lives and stories of women of color have gone untold and shall never be forgotten;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, be it resolved that February 15 - March 15 be declared Women of Color HERstory Month in the City of Pittsburgh.
