WHEREAS, the 50th annual National Catholic Schools Week is celebrated January 28-February 3, 2024; and,

WHEREAS, the schools of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh observe the week with Masses, assemblies and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members to celebrate the impact and excellence of Catholic schools; and,
WHEREAS, 99% of students who attend Catholic high school graduate and, of those, 86% go on to attend a 4-year college; all indications to conclude that Catholic Schools are producing extraordinary young people who are successful and committed to their future; and,
WHEREAS, when dedicated teachers base their methods on a love for the Church, they create an atmosphere of servants and leaders, which is what makes Catholic schools succeed; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Catholic Schools of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh that serve our City residents by teaching students to become faith-filled disciples, future leaders, and enriched citizens in our communities; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, January 28 to February 3, 2024 to be “Catholic Schools Week” in the City of Pittsburgh.
