Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Bishop Leonard-Saint Mary of the Mount Academy; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, February 2, 2010, to be “Immaculate Heart of Mary Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, The Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary opened Saint Mary of the Mount School 100 years ago marking the year of 2010 the 100th anniversary of dedicated service and the teaching of quality Catholic education and the Saint Mary of the Mount Community has dedicated a year long celebration for the sisters, marking 2010 as "100 Years of I.H.M. Service on the Mount"; and,
 
WHEREAS, The Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Scranton Pennsylvania, arrived in Pittsburgh at the request of Bishop Canevin and the Very Reverend Edward P. Griffin founder of Saint Mary of the Mount School, located in Mount Washington in the City of Pittsburgh; and,
 
WHEREAS, As to their calling from a divine power and the ordained religious in the Diocese of Pittsburgh - the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary arrived under the direction of Mother M. Cyril - Superior General of the community with Sister Berchmans, their superior and principal, Sisters M. Raymond, M. Angelica, M. Inviolata, M. Cornelia, M. Luigi, M. Maurice, M. Delphina, M. Augusta, Mary Stephen, M. Deneri, M. Ferdinand, and M. Paulinus; and,
 
WHEREAS, with the provision for four hundred students, the I.H.M. sisters were prepared for their service to the children, and on Monday January 24, 1910, the I.H.M sisters and Father Griffin were astounded when six hundred and thirty five children reported to their first day of school; and,
 
WHEREAS, because of the demand, the I.H.M. community added five sisters to the faculty and the community has thrived for 10 decades all because of their dedication; and,
 
WHEREAS, the sisters continue their faithful service to the school which is now Bishop Leonard - Saint Mary of the Mount Academy; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Bishop Leonard-Saint Mary of the Mount Academy; and,
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, February 2, 2010, to be "Immaculate Heart of Mary Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
