WHEREAS, OASIS Pittsburgh is a national education organization dedicated to enriching the lives of adults, age 50 and older, through lifelong learning and service and through its stimulating programs in the arts, humanities, health, technology, and volunteer service opportunities, OASIS brings people together to learn, lead and contribute in their communities; and
WHEREAS, OASIS would like to honor Hugh J. Brannan, III, Executive Director, Brashear Association, for his more than 22 years of service as the Administrative Sponsor of OASIS and for his dedication to the betterment of OASIS; and
WHEREAS, Hugh J. Brannan, III, has diligently monitored the progress of The OASIS Institute and OASIS Pittsburgh to plan for sustainability, growth and impact of OASIS Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, the long term success of the relationship between Brashear Association and OASIS Pittsburgh, can be directly attributed to Hugh J. Brannan, III, his leadership skills, unique strengths and exemplary character; and
WHEREAS, OASIS Pittsburgh is poised to move into a new and critical phase of its organizational development, where the focus will be local capacity-building, recognizing OASIS as an innovator and expert in the field of aging; maximizing its social impact; ensuring financial sustainability; and fulfilling its mission to enrich the lives of adults 50 and older.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does, hereby, declare Thursday, January 28, 2010, to be Hugh J. Brannan, III Day in the City of Pittsburgh in recognition of his invaluable leadership and dedication to OASIS Pittsburgh.
