Whereas, Jack & Jill of America, Inc. was founded January 24, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from a meeting of 20 mothers with the idea of bringing together children in a social and cultural environment. The organization continues on dedicating its resources to develop and disseminate child development educational material, and improving the quality of life for African-American children; and
Whereas, the Pittsburgh Chapter of Jack and Jill was organized in 1944, and has been encouraging, celebrating and showcasing our youth through their biennial Presentation Ball since 1982. The Pittsburgh Chapter of Jack and Jill is hosting its 2010 Presentation Ball on Saturday, the thirtieth of January; and

Now, Therefore, be it resolved that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and congratulate The Pittsburgh Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. for 65 years of excellence and for its endless contribution and dedication to the youth of the City of Pittsburgh; and
Be It Further Resolved, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does herby proclaim Saturday, January 30, 2010, as "Jack and Jill Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
