WHEREAS, Ruth Jacqueline School Londino was born on December 17, 1927 to Martha and Theodore School of Pittsburgh’s Lower Hill District and Polish Hill; and,

WHEREAS, after marrying Arthur J. Londino, Sr., they moved to Brighton Heights in the North Side area of the City of Pittsburgh and in 1962 they moved to Crafton. Together, they raised 5 children, Linda, Susan, Gregg, Mark and Arthur Jr.; and,

 

WHEREAS, Ruth was very active in her church Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish and most recently St Phillip Catholic Parish.  She enjoyed getting together with friends to sew and make crafts, including silk flower arrangements. Not long ago, she started free-hand painting; and,

 

WHEREAS, she and one of her friends had a small business out of her home making chocolates for special occasions. Word got out of her Chocolate Covered Cherries soaked in Bourbon and people couldn’t get enough; however, they were warned to wait until they got home to eat any of them; and, 

 

WHEREAS, Ruth is a very loving person and a friend to anyone who needs one. In fact, every year, the staff at Blinky’s Noble Grill and Bar in the Westwood neighborhood celebrates her birthday because they have come to know her as family; and, 

 

WHEREAS, Ruth now resides in Vincentian Marian Manor, located in the Banksville neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh, where she helps in the Activities Center.  She takes pleasure in her eleven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, with whom she enjoys playing cards and other activities; and,   

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and celebrate Ruth Jacqueline School Londino on her 96th Birthday; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Sunday, December 17, 2023 to be “Ruth Jacqueline School Londino Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
