WHEREAS, Rafael Diaz belongs to Troop 710 of the Boy Scouts of America Laurel Highlands Division and has completed all requirements necessary for Eagle Scout recognition, the highest rank in Scouting; and,

WHEREAS, his final service project was revitalizing the outside area of the Langley American Legion, which consisted of cleaning, weeding, and planting flowers. In addition, he volunteered for the Pittsburgh Community Food Bank’s Produce to the People Program held at Pittsburgh Langley; and,
WHEREAS, Rafael was the first Latino in the Scoutreach District. During his time with Troop 710, he served as Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader and Troop Guide. He also completed the National Youth Leadership Training; and,
WHEREAS, Rafael attended the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve and made friends from different states and Councils, and was challenged at National Jamboree, where he participated in the 2023 Jamboree parade; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Rafael Diaz for his outstanding achievement of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Saturday, December 16, 2023 to be “Eagle Scout Rafael Diaz Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
