WHEREAS, Kyrique Mitchell belongs to Troop 710 of the Boy Scouts of America Laurel Highlands Division and has completed all requirements necessary for Eagle Scout recognition, the highest rank in Scouting; and,

WHEREAS, for his final service project, Kyrique refurbished a handicap accessible area at the DaVillage Social Club and Event Center, the troop’s alternative meeting facility, which consisted of cleaning, weeding, painting, and installing Handicap signs; and,
WHEREAS, Kyrique has been a part of troop 66 since a tiger cub and obtained Eagle badge with Troop 710. He has held leadership positions of Troop Scribe and Eagle Project Manager. Being the oldest member of Troop 710, he embraced his role as a mentor, sharing his knowledge and experience to support younger Scouts; and,
WHEREAS, his intensive volunteer experience includes, but is not limited to, Sheraden Park Clean Up, Caroling for special needs residences at an assisted living home, organizing a community Block Party for the Westside community, and with the Salvation Army Westside Corps’ Emergency Food Pantry, Food Bank, holiday kettle fundraiser, and Earth Day Event. In 2021 and 2023 he lead the Juneteenth Parade with his troop; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Kyrique Mitchell for his outstanding achievement of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, December 16, 2023, to be “Eagle Scout Kyrique Mitchell Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
