WHEREAS, Donald Z. Reid III belongs to Troop 710 of the Boy Scouts of America Laurel Highlands Division and has completed all requirements necessary for Eagle Scout recognition, the highest rank in Scouting; and,

WHEREAS, his final service project was a Mural painted at Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church for the H.O.P.E. For Tomorrow Inc. after-school program. The mural helped to establish their newly developed educational space for students in the Sheraden neighborhood of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, during his time with Troop 710, he was involved with several community outreach events with community leaders and organizations including, but not limited to, Adopt a Community Park Restoration Project, where he was assigned to clean the Sheraden Community Park and revitalize vegetation; and,
WHEREAS, some of Donald’s other volunteer efforts included working with H.O.P.E. For Tomorrow where he helped creatively paint 30-gallon trash cans to be placed in the Sheraden and Chartiers neighborhoods to encourage community cleanliness, and helped pack, seal and ship 72,000 meals to families in need for Amen to Action; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Donald Z. Reid III for his outstanding achievement of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, December 16, 2023 to be “Eagle Scout Donald Z. Reid III Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
