Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes Coro Pittsburgh's 10th anniversary and thanks the organization for its work to improve civic life in the Pittsburgh region; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares November 7, 2009, “Coro Pittsburgh Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on November 7, 2009, Coro Pittsburgh will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the program's founding; and
 
WHEREAS, the mission of Coro Pittsburgh is advance ethical and effective leaders who share a commitment to civic engagement; and
 
WHEREAS, Coro Pittsburgh also seeks to promote an inclusive democracy in which people of different backgrounds, views and sectors engage in their communities and work together constructively; and
WHEREAS, Coro has performed valuable research in order to understand how civic and political engagement can improve Pittsburgh communities and how citizens can become involved in their city; and
WHEREAS, Coro has held numerous 'community conversations' throughout Pittsburgh in which broad cross sections of the population gather together to discuss and develop informed opinions about issues that impact their lives.
