Title
Resolution providing for an Agreement or Agreements with the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh for a grant of City operating funds for operational/administrative expenses, maintenance, purchase of equipment and/or rehabilitation of neighborhood library facilities for the benefit of residents of the City of Pittsburgh at a cost not to exceed $600,000.00.
 
Body
Whereas, the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, a Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation (the "Library") is seeking to fill a gap of $1.2 Million Dollars in their budget for 2010 or face the closure of various neighborhood branch Libraries, and
      
Whereas, as a condition of funding, the City Council shall require that all neighborhood branch libraries within the City of Pittsburgh remain open, and
 
Whereas, through the next Six Months the Carnegie Library shall work with the City, the Regional Asset District Board, the State Legislature, local foundations and neighborhood community organizations to develop a plan of alternative funding to develop a permanent revenue stream as well as shared services plan to support the neighborhood branch system
.
 
Be it Resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
 
Section 1.  The Mayor and the Director of the Department of City Planning of the City of Pittsburgh are hereby authorized to enter into an Agreement or Agreements, in a form approved by the City Solicitor, with the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh for a grant of City operating funds in an amount not to exceed $600,000 payable from Non-Departmental Miscellaneous General Fund Grants Account, Organization Code: 999400, Account 000000, Fund: 1000, Sub: 300, Budget Year: 2009.
 
The agreement shall be executed within 30 days of the passage of this legislation.
