Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate the Westwood Women's Club for 90 years of service and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, October 27, 2009, to be “WESTWOOD WOMEN'S DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, The Westwood Women's Club started out as a social group in 1919 and continued as the women's club after World War I, celebrating its 90 birthday this past July, 2009 ; and,
 
WHEREAS, the club currently has twenty-one members and meets on the first Wednesday during the months of September through December, and then again in April through June; and,      
 
WHEREAS, annually, this group sends cards to vets on every holiday, serves cookies and coffee at the VA Hospital, and gives food certificates to needy families,; and,
 
WHEREAS, social events include an annual covered dish and social time, a spring social and a children's Christmas party as well as special guests throughout the year ; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Westwood Women's Club is much more than a social group which is evident in their generosity to charities such as Bethlehem Haven, Children's Home and Mom's House to name a few, in addition, the group gives college scholarships to local students; and,
 
WHEREAS, we recognize the current officers; President, Rosemarie Glaser, Treasurer Barb Stafford and Secretary Caren Surlow in addition to all of the members for all of their hard work and  dedication to the community; and,
