• Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes the 2009 Partners in Leadership Awards and thanks the Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania for assisting our local veterans as they transition back to civilian life; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares October 29, 2009, “A Tribute to Veterans Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on October 29, 2009, the Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania (VLP) will hold its 2009 Partners in Leadership Awards at the Carnegie Music Hall; and

WHEREAS, this year's program, A Tribute to Veterans, will be the 20^th anniversary of the Partners in Leadership Awards; and

WHEREAS, for over 25 years, VLP has provided supportive services to veterans and their families in order to improve self-sufficiency, sustainability and quality of life; and

WHEREAS, VLP provides transitional and long term housing to veterans through six different housing programs and helps veterans find employment through workshops, assisted job placement, outreach events and vocational counseling; and

WHEREAS, the VLP Pennsylvania has been instrumental in the establishment of the Veterans Court, designed to rehabilitate veterans and give them a second chance.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes the 2009 Partners in Leadership Awards and thanks the Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania for assisting our local veterans as they transition back to civilian life; and
