WHEREAS, on November 7, 2009, the Women and Girls Foundation will honor 20 women for their contributions to promoting justice during its 5th Anniversary Event "The Art of Justice: Women Shaping the Law"; and
WHEREAS, the Women and Girls Foundation seeks to achieve equity for women and girls in the region through a combination of public advocacy, coalition building and grant-making; and
WHEREAS, the Women and Girls Foundation seeks to participate in a larger social movement that encourages individual women and men to see themselves as change agents working together to make a difference in their communities; and
WHEREAS, the Women and Girls Foundation will recognize the following women for their achievements:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby recognizes the 5th Anniversary of the Women and Girls Foundation and commends the event's honorees for their service to the Pittsburgh region; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares November 7, 2009 "Women and Girls Foundation Anniversary Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
