WHEREAS, Morningside is a vibrant Pittsburgh neighborhood with a small but growing business district; and
WHEREAS, operating a small business is always a challenge though especially in its first year; and
WHEREAS, small businesses have the power to be part of creating and reinforcing a sense of community; and
WHEREAS, Morning Glory Coffeehouse has started not just a successful small business but also a place for the Morningside community to meet and gather over a cup of great coffee; and
WHEREAS, Morning Glory Coffeehouse hosts events that bring the community together and also attract people form throughout the City and region; and
WHEREAS, they host and exhibit musicians and visual artists from the local community and throughout the world, including nine international performers in the first year of business; and
WHEREAS, Morning Glory Coffeehouse also hosts community events such as Morningside Area Community Council committee meetings and Council to Go events,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Morning Glory Coffeehouse and its proprietor Jeffrey Alexander on his first full year of operation and wishes him tremendous success as he continues to support both local and international musicians and artists, and hosts community events for many years to come; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare October 30th, 2009 as Morning Glory Coffeehouse Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
