Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize The Howard Levin Clubhouse for their extraordinary work in the mental health community and commends them for honoring employers who demonstrate their support through employment of Levin Clubhouse members and further congratulates all the employers who are to be honored at the Recognition Reception to be held on November 9, 2009, at the Howard Levin Clubhouse; and,

WHEREAS, The Howard Levin Clubhouse was founded by Jewish Residential Services in 2001 to serve the needs of the mental health community with respect, dignity and quality services in a culturally Jewish environment, ; and,
WHEREAS, Using the nationally recognized clubhouse model, Jewish Residential Services created The Howard Levin Clubhouse to assist adults with a history of mental illness to live, work and socialize in the community in a supportive, strengths based community; and,
WHEREAS, today The Howard Levin Clubhouse is a warm, welcoming community for people whose lives have been disrupted by mental illness so that they build their strengths and abilities, self confidence and vocational skills that prepare them for more productive, meaningful lives; and,
WHEREAS, The Howard Levin Clubhouse takes a team approach to organizing and completing work in one of three units, the Food Service/Horticultural Unit, the Member Services Unit and the Business/ Employment Unit as well as transitional employment and social life outside of the Clubhouse ; and,
WHEREAS, The Howard Levin Clubhouse will recognize those employers who have hired and supported members and who have shown respect and belief in the members through employment; and,
WHEREAS, The Howard Levin Clubhouse will honor the WPIC Transition for Recovery Unit, Jay Fingeret, Attorney at Law, NAMI Southwestern PA, Community Day School, Squirrel Hill Food Pantry, IKM Architects, United Jewish Federation, Trader Joe's, U.S. Department of Labor, Thriftique/National Council of Jewish Women, TriState Petroleum, Per Support Advocacy Network, DeLuca's Restaurant, and BENDER Consulting Services, Inc.;and,
