Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes and commends Lynette Lederman for her years of service and dedication to the Pittsburgh community and thanks the National Council of Jewish Women, Pittsburgh Section for honoring her efforts; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares October 8, 2009, “Lynette Lederman Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on October 8, 2009, the National Council of Jewish Women, Pittsburgh Section will honor Lynette Lederman with the Hannah G. Solomon award; and
WHEREAS, the award is presented to an individual who has changed the lives of others through his or her leadership efforts and service, particularly in the area of improving the quality of life for women, children, and families; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Lederman has served as the president of the National Council of Jewish Women, Pittsburgh Section, as a regional leader for the North American Youth Maccabi Games, and as the second female president of Tree of Life Congregation; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Lederman has taken an active role in her community through membership and leadership roles in organizations including Squirrel Hill Little League, the Jewish Community Center, the president of Parent Teacher Organizations of three schools, the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition's Education Committee, and the 14th Ward Democratic Committee; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Lederman has received several awards for her service and leadership to her community, including the Tree of Life Congregation's Presidential Citation, the Jewish Community Center's Latterman Volunteer Mitzvah Award, National Council of Jewish Women's Emerging Leader Award, the National Association of Women Business Owners' Make the Connection Award, the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition's Citizen of the Year Award and League of Women Voters' Good Government Award; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Lederman works on a variety of community issues and programs as the executive assistant to Council President Douglas Shields; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Lederman and her husband Stanley have two children, Michael and Katie, and two grandchildren, Danny and Jack.
