WHEREAS, on October 7, 2009, Green Light + Green Energy Pittsburgh will take place at the Senator John Heinz Pittsburgh History Center; and
WHEREAS, Green Light + Green Energy Pittsburgh is a day long conference, reception and exhibition that will offer educational information about the best in sustainable products and services for the electrical and lighting communities; and
WHEREAS, the conference will feature a keynote lunch address from Richard Piacentini, executive director of the Phipps Conservatory, panel discussions, award ceremonies, an exhibition of more than 50 vendors, and Green Party, an all-industry mixer and reception; and
WHEREAS, Green Light + Green Energy Pittsburgh is open to the public and is hosted by The Electric League, an association of professionals working in the lighting and electrical industry, and is supported by the Illuminating Engineering Society, the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRA).

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby recognizes Green Light + Green Energy Pittsburgh and thanks the organizers for bringing this showcase of sustainable practices and products to Pittsburgh; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares October 6-12, 2009, "Green Light + Green Energy Pittsburgh Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
