WHEREAS, Charles, known affectionately as Chuck, was born on the Northside of Pittsburgh and has lived there his entire life, currently residing at his home in Summer Hill since 1948; and
WHEREAS, Chuck distinguished himself through his expertise and skill in body repair and paint finishing while working for General Motors, becoming the first technician in the Greater Pittsburgh area to be trained by General Motors' Chevrolet division on the ground breaking Corvette when first introduced; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Reljac's talent and reputation in the automotive industry made him highly sought after as an expert in restoring classic and antique vehicles with show quality and authentic paint finishes; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Reljac bravely served the United States as Staff Sergeant in World War II throughout North Africa and Central Europe; and
WHEREAS, Chuck is one of four brothers who all served in World War II, including his twin brother Joe; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Reljac was recently honored with the publication of a story in a book about World War II by WQED, which described Chuck meeting his brother Mike in North Africa during their service; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Charles S. Reljac, devoted father and World War II veteran, celebrates his 92nd birthday this year on September 23, 2009; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby commend and congratulate Charles S. Reljac on his 92nd birthday and does hereby declare September 23, 2009, to be "Chuck Reljac Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
