WHEREAS, Pittsburgh Allderdice High School, formerly known as Taylor Allderdice High School, the largest of the Pittsburgh Public Schools' ten urban high schools, has drawn students from nine diverse communities and offers to this day academic programs at the gifted, scholars and standard academic levels, complemented by a full range of interscholastic, intramural and co-curricular clubs ; and,
WHEREAS, Taylor Allderdice High School has had a long and distinguished record of being amongst the top high schools in the country, having consistently secured Middles States Association accreditation and the Blue Ribbon Award of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education; and,
WHEREAS, Taylor Allderdice High School has had many distinguished graduates and amongst them are the 644 members of the Classes of January 1959, June 1959 and January 1960 which produced accomplished professionals in the fields of medicine, law, education, business and the arts; and,
WHEREAS, members of the Allderdice Classes of 1959 and 1960 will gather to remember and celebrate the fond and everlasting memories of their high school years in a Labor Day Reunion Weekend with a Meet and Greet at the Omni William Penn on Friday evening, outdoor activities such as biking, walking, tennis and golf throughout the weekend, a Nostalgic Tour of Allderdice High School on Saturday , the Reunion Party on Saturday night at the Circuit Center and Brunch on Sunday at the Omni William Penn; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh
does hereby recognize and commend the Taylor Allderdice Classes of January 1959, June 1959 and January 1960 for producing a remarkable cadre of graduates who went out into the world and through their successes and philanthropy contributed to the betterment and advancement of the City of Pittsburgh and beyond ; and,
