Title: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does, hereby, commend Bishop-elect Peter Martin Hallenbeck for all that he has done to improve the lives of his congregants and the members of his community, at large, and does, hereby, congratulate him on the event of his consecration as a Bishop of the Episcopal Church. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does, hereby, proclaim Saturday, June 27, 2009, to be known as Bishop Peter Martin Hallenbeck Day in the City of Pittsburgh

WHEREAS, Bishop-elect Peter Martin Hallenbeck is cognizant of his life's purpose and has firmly fixed his consciousness to embrace the task at hand and for Bishop-elect Hallenbeck, ministry is, plain and simple, people and not things; and
WHEREAS, his innate desire to spread the love of God, through the gospel of Jesus Christ, has caused Bishop-elect Hallenbeck to open his heart and ministry to the community by unselfishly serving individuals and their families as they call upon him; and
WHEREAS, in addition to what some may consider to be the norm of ministry, christenings, weddings, funerals, counseling, teaching and preaching, Bishop-elect Hallenbeck has felt the heartbeat of his congregation and community and is working untiringly to participate in and implement various ministry programming relevant to his congregation, Full Life Deliverance Ministries; and
WHEREAS, those programs include Academic Tutoring & Shadowing, a program that provides tutoring to students during the school year and beyond, while monitoring their grades each report period; and
WHEREAS, Operation Embrace, is a two-fold program that eases the apprehension experienced by men and women who have been incarcerated, providing a safety net for them as they make their re-entry to mainstream society and addresses the sensitivity and the societal dictates that place an immediate label of exclusion upon individuals who have been infected with HIV; and
WHEREAS, Leading by Example Men's Mentorship Program, is a component of the ministry that assists men in the healthy spiritual, emotional and physical maintenance, as well as addressing relevant men's issues; and
WHEREAS, PIT Program: Pastors in Training Program is a program that teaches and trains young men and women in ministry who are pursuant of the call to pastoral ministry, through hands-on instruction, he prepares them to be successful in building productive lives.
