WHEREAS, the George Westinghouse Lady Bulldogs Basketball team won the Girls Basketball City League Championship title by defeating the Schenley Lady Spartans at the AJ Palumbo Center Duquesne University February 26, 2009; and
WHEREAS, under the direction of Coach Phyllis A. Jones and Assistant Coaches Talitha Cox, Dana Morris, Richard McClain and Anthony Ferguson, the George Westinghouse Lady Bulldogs were able to win their third consecutive City Championship title; and
WHEREAS, the George Westinghouse Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team was comprised of:

WHEREAS, the George Westinghouse Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team achieved this noteworthy goal through individual commitment, teamwork and discipline; and
WHEREAS, the players, their families and coaches have followed through with the persistence necessary to achieve this goal and win this championship for themselves and their school.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby recognize and commend the George Westinghouse Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team for their hard work and contribution to the City of Pittsburgh.
BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby declare June 9, 2009, "GEORGE WESTINGHOUSE LADY BULLDOGS DAY", in the City of Pittsburgh.
