Title: Be It Further Resolved, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does herby proclaim Thursday, May 21, 2009 as "Wade Lipscomb Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

Whereas, after Mr. Wade Lipscomb graduated from George Westinghouse High School in 1966 he decided to enroll at the Pittsburgh Barbering School located on East Ohio Street within the Northside area of the City of Pittsburgh; and
 
Whereas, during his tenure at the Pittsburgh Barbering School he was an apprentice to master barber William "Bummie" Miller. Mr. Miller's shop was located on Brushton Avenue right across from Fredrick's Funeral Home; and
 
Whereas, after graduating and receiving his barber's license, Mr. Lipscomb eventually opened up three barbershop locations on Homewood Avenue. Through the years, Mr. Lipscomb has opened barbershops in neighborhoods throughout the city and surrounding areas, such as the Northside area and Wilkinsburg. Subsequently, he moved his shop to 7223 Kelly Street, which has been his current location for the past 20 years; and
 
Whereas, Wade's barbershop has insistently invested back into our communities by participating in programs such as Take a Health Professional to the People Day, The Fight Against Cancer Initiative, blood pressure awareness screenings (sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University School of Nursing), and H.A.I.R. (healthy advocates in reach and research); and
 
Whereas, Mr. Lipscomb was sworn in on April 20, 2009, to the State Board of Barber Examiners by Governor Rendell. The mission of this board is to regulate the licensure and practice of the barbering profession in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
 
 
Now, Therefore, be it resolved that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Mr. Wade Lipscomb for his endless contributions to our communities and his dedication to the future of our children; and
