Title: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, would like to convey their most sincere thanks to David Blenk for all he has done to strengthen one of our most unique neighborhoods and they extend their very best wishes to David for continued success as he embarks on a new chapter in his life. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does, hereby, proclaim, Tuesday, May 5, 2009, as David Blenk Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, David Blenk joined Oakland Planning and Development Corporation in March, 2001, as the Executive Director; and
WHEREAS, during his eight years with OPDC, David shared his talents and vision by serving on the boards of the Oakland Task Force, Community Human Services; the Oakland Transportation Management Association; the Oakland Business Improvement District and the Pittsburgh Community Resources Group; and
WHEREAS, one of David Blenk's greatest contributions to the Oakland community, was creating an atmosphere where all groups worked together for the good of the neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, most recently, David Blenk was the driving force in the creation of the Neighborhood Partnership Program which is a tax credit program of the PA Department of Community and Economic Development, which will provide funding and support to the Oakland Zone, through 2013; and
WHEREAS, thanks to the dedication of David Blenk, the Oakland Zone will have the funding necessary to achieve their shared vision of Oakland 'Maintaining the quality of our neighborhoods is vital to Oakland's success and integration. Together the Oakland Zone is realizing a shared voice and a vision of Oakland's role as a premier neighborhood adjacent to and, in equal value with, the regional institutional core.'
